Executive Summary- FLOSS Fashions

FLOSS Fashions was established in 1998 in Houston, Texas to provide young people 14-35 with affordable, fashionable urban clothing and to create a business environment that would allow teenagers to learn more about operating a clothing business.

FLOSS is an acronym for Future Leaders Operating Successful Skills. The mission behind FLOSS Fashion was to be the leading outfitter in Houston’s Third Ward, and to use the business to introduce at risk youth to how a business functions, and to encourage entrepreneurship and professional growth.

FLOSS developed a popular reputation in Houston’s Third Ward that allowed the company’s name to spread into other urban markets in the Southern United States. The business developed a network of wholesalers that allowed FLOSS to have a wide variety of merchandise and accessories for the urban market.

FLOSS began getting involved with aspiring musicians and hip-hop artists, providing them with clothing and apparel for appearances and photos shoots. As the buzz about the quality and price of FLOSS merchandise, more customers visited the store to shop and place special orders.By the end of 2003, FLOSS had developed a clientele that ranged from at risk youth to lawyers, doctors, entertainers, professional athletes and other business professionals.

FLOSS plans to continue to capitalize on the steady and growing demand for urban merchandise and apparel in the United States. With an established and loyal clientele along with reliable wholesale connections, FLOSS Fashions is poised to continue increasing annual gross revenues and profits while making a positive contribution to the community in which the company was established.

TGBTG SPORTS AND FLOSS FASHIONS – UNION IS STRENGTH

TGBTG Sports made a decision to open a sports apparel shop in Houston’s Third Ward in January, 2004. The demand for TGBTG merchandise increased with the release of their custom line of basketball shoes, so the company took advantage of connections with sports manufacturers abroad and opened the store in March, 2004.

While the TGBTG merchandise sales were healthy in the first 3 months of business, there was not much variety in what the customers could choose from. In order to drive sales, the store needed more to offer the consumer.

After a meeting between FLOSS Fashions and TGBTG Sports chief executives in early June, the companies were able to reach partnership agreements that would merge the resources of the two companies for this retail venture.

For TGBTG Sports, the aim was to partner with a company that could increase the variety of merchandise to offer. For FLOSS Fashion, the aim was to have their merchandise in a more highly visible area that their previous location expecting to generate more new walk-in customers.

In August, 2004, the 600 square foot building leased by TGBTG Sports was re-named “TO GOD BE THE GLORY FLOSS FASHIONS” located at 3801 North MacGregor at Scott – roughly 7 minutes from downtown Houston.

With the deal in place, merchandise sales have more than tripled in thefirst 6 months of the partnership. Sales continue to increase, and in March, 2005, the FLOSS Fashions merchandise will the added to the e-store at TGBTG.COM to allow the TGBTG Sports on-line audience to select items from our inventory.

BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY

TGBTG Sports and FLOSS Fashions share a similar business philosophy – satisfy the customer. We must know what they want, what they expect, and then we must deliver. Both companies were able to last and grow in the first 5 years from understanding what their audience wanted and working diligently to see that everyone could be satisfied. We understand that when you are in business with a mission that involves helping others, the financial bottom line is not always the most important thing.

TGBTG and FLOSS are committed to being resourceful, business oriented companies that are sensitive to the individual needs and situations of those that patronize our business. While we have provided special discounts and made donations in certain situations, we have managed to stay on course with our goals and keep our operations profitable.
