Sports training
We provide private and group basketball training for youth and
young adults -- we have empowered many young players to be able to both develop the
skills necessary to make it on to school teams as well as being able to enhance the
performance of those who were already active in team sports.
Academic Tutorials
Using the South Park family life center, TGBTG Sports works
with school aged participants that need academic assistance. We provide specific subject
enhancement twice per week at the South Park Family Life Center, or by appointment at
the request of students or parents. We have been key in helping young people improve
their academic performance in school and keeping a competitive academic profile as they
prepare for high school or college admissions.
College Placement
Through our scholarship search program, we have been successful in
placing numerous teenagers in college with scholarships and financial aid. Each year since
1997, TGBTG Sports organizes a sports combine to connect unsigned college prospects with
junior college and small college programs. We have been successful with placing several
qualified student athletes in college on full or partial athletic scholarships.
Young Entrepreneur Program
Started in 2004, TGBTG Sports trains at-risk high school
students at a small mom-and-pop retail store managed by the organization. The Young Entrepreneur
Program gives select teenagers the opportunity to learn how to conduct and manage business with
the purpose of broadening their mental horizon to the many opportunities for success that exist
in life. We currently train 4 teenagers at our 3801 North MacGregor Way location in Houston, Texas.
Cultural Exchange Programs
TGBTG Sports has developed on-going goodwill activities in
parts of Central America and China. These programs are largely sponsored by the sports committees
in the countries that we travel to. Since 1998, TGBTG Sports travels with skilled basketball players
into these parts of the world to play games, do camps, and to conduct various outreach programs,
including assisting with construction of homes, schools, etc. We have taken hundreds of participants
from our organization on foreign cultural exchange trips, and it is our goal to host groups from
these and other foreign countries at our sports complex once the construction is completed.
